Bandarban is a green hilly region of Bangladesh situated to the South-East corner of the country. It is one of the three hill districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) area which is full of hills and forest areas. It is the least populous district of Bangladesh with an area of 4,479 km². Bandarban is the district to which the border of both India and Myanmar exist. It is a place of various tribal inhabitants.

One of the great attractions of Bandarban is the riding on Sangu River. The Sangu River is a river of Bangladesh and Myanmar. The source of the river is in the North Arakan Hills of Myanmar and the river enters in Bangladesh near Remakri, a remote Union of Thanchi Upazila. The length of the river is 270 km; 173 km are located within Bangladesh.

The travel covers the three Union (Balipara, Thanchi Sadar & Tindu) areas of Thanchi Upazila among its four Unions. One can enjoy the excellent scenic view of the Sangu River through sailing to the upstream of the river up to Thindu, Boro Pathor where the ‘Raja Pathor’ (King Stone) exists as the ethnic peoples’ spiritual belief. The local people believe that if the Raja Pathor goes under water by overflow in the Sangu due to rain then the Thanchi will be gone under water as well. Interestingly the water color of the Sangu is changeable due to seasons. In rainy season the water color turns into muddy and unclear while during winter and spring the water becomes peacefully greenish transparent.

Your travel covers the peak named Tomatungi exactly 4 km from Thanchi from where you’ll get the view of Keukaradong, Tazing Dong and Dim Pahar.

Itinerary

Start

You’ll start at 11pm from Dhaka

Day-1

You’ll reach at Bandarban at 6 am.
You’ll have a 30 minutes ride that take you to the Restaurant where you’ll get chance to refresh. Here you’ll also have your breakfast with warm reception.
Then you’ll start for Thanchi and on the way you’ll travel Shoilopropat, Chimbuk Hill and Nilgiri Hill. A ride of 30 minutes will take you to the Shoilopropat, a beautiful waterfall. Here you may have a window shopping of local hand made products.
Your next destination is Chimbuk Hill which is one of the top peaks near the town. You may take a tea-break here. Here you’ll get the tasty fruits of hill and the local hand loom products. It’ll be a 45 minutes travel here.
You’ll then travel the Nilgiri Hill and it’ll be an hour travel here.
From Nilgiri you’ll run for Thanchi; on the way there may be a break in Nildigonto a high peak to pass a leisure time.
You’ll be in Thanchi after a 3 hours journey from Bandarban with some breaks for breakfast, Shoilopropat, Chimbuk and Nildigonto.
In Thanchi you’ll feel a mixture of ethnic flavor.

Day-2

After having an early breakfast you’ll start for Tomatungi where you get the marvelous view of the morning.
Getting back from Tomatungi Thindu and Boro Pathor after completing the formalities in local Police Station and in BGB Check Post.
You’ll start the magnificent journey through the Sangu River to it’s upstream. The breathing peace in green hills and water will give you an immense comfort and happiness.
It’ll take an hour journey to reach Boro Pathor crossing the Thindu Union. At Boro Pathor you’ll pass a magnificent leisure time with natural bath-tub of cold-water flow of the Sangu.
Getting back to Thanchi you’ll have your lunch and start for Bandarban.
You’ll hold your night at Bandarban town.

Day-3

You’ll have a 20 minutes ride that take you to the Swarna Mandir (Golden Tample) on Jadi Pahar in a 3 km distance from town centre. It is a significant religious centre of Buddhists with golden colored temple of Buddha. It may take 45 minutes travel here.
You’ll then move to Ram Jadi Mandir, another Temple of Buddha which is a 20 minutes ride. You’ll have to hike a steep stairs more than 100 feet to reach the temple. It may take a 30 minutes travel here. Then you’ll have your lunch at the town.
After lunch you’ll travel a 45 minutes ride to reach Nilachal, the highest peak of Bandarban town. From here you’ll get a sky top view of the whole town. You’ll also have a distance view of the Golden Temple. You’ll enjoy the beautiful view of the setting sun on the top of the hill.
Getting back to city after evening you’ll catch your vehicle to start for Dhaka at 8pm.

End

You’ll reach at 6am from Bandarban

Tips

The package is most suitable and safe during late autumn, winter and spring (November to March). In rainy season the water flow is high but water color is muddy and the Sangu is overflown. The route is a little bit risky for exposure in rainy season.

Minimum 50% of declared price shall be paid to confirm reservation at least 7 days prior of the travel date.
Another 25% of declared price shall be paid 48 hours prior of the travel date.
Rest of the amount shall be paid before completion of the tour.

50% of the Reservation Fee shall be paid back if the client cancels tour more than 72 hours prior of the travel date.
